Caring for your Pura stainless steel bottles

Pura stainless steel drink bottles are a popular choice for those looking to reduce their environmental impact and stay hydrated on the go. To ensure your drink bottle stays in top condition and free from harmful bacteria, follow these tips for cleaning and maintenance.

1. Use Warm, Soapy Water

Start by rinsing out your stainless steel drink bottle with warm, soapy water after each use. This will help remove any residue or odors and prevent bacteria from growing inside the bottle.

2. Avoid Harsh Chemicals

Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on your stainless steel drink bottle, as these can damage the finish and potentially leach harmful substances into your drink. Stick to mild dish soap and water for regular cleaning.

3. Use a Bottle Brush

To thoroughly clean the inside of your drink bottle, use a bottle brush with soft bristles to scrub away any stubborn residue. Make sure to reach all the way to the bottom and around the edges to ensure a thorough clean.

4. Air Dry Thoroughly

After washing your stainless steel drink bottle, make sure to air dry it thoroughly before storing it away. Leaving moisture inside the bottle can promote bacterial growth, so ensure it is completely dry before sealing it up.

5. Deep Clean Regularly

For a deeper clean, consider soaking your stainless steel drink bottle in a mixture of water and white vinegar. This can help remove any lingering odors or stains and keep your bottle fresh and clean. You can pour several tablespoons of vinegar into the opening, shake well, then add water and scrub using the bottle brush. Alternatives are cleaning tablets, baking soda or solutions of hydrogen peroxide for your deep cleaning routine.

6. Check for Wear and Tear

Regularly inspect your stainless steel drink bottle for any signs of wear and tear, such as dents, scratches, or leaks. If you notice any damage, it may be time to replace your bottle to ensure your drinks stay safe and secure. Pura bottles come with a lifetime warranty for the bottle itself (accessories are not included as they are designed for wear and tear). See warranty info (bottom of this article) for more on this.

Always check the spout or straw before each use (and remove any loose silicone pieces before giving the bottle to your child).

7. Store Properly

When not in use, store your stainless steel drink bottle with the lid off to allow for air circulation and prevent any trapped moisture. This will help keep your bottle fresh and ready for your next adventure.

Warranty information

The warranty covers leakage, manufacturing defects or other failures that occur during normal use. You won't be covered for anything beyond normal use (ie if you drop it off a tall building, run it over).  Normal dents are also not covered as they won't impact the day to day use of this product (but we suggest that you use a silicone sleeve or bumper on your bottle to protect them from dents). The warranty is designed to ensure that if you use and care for your bottle in a reasonable manner it will be the last water bottle you ever purchase.

The silicone accessories are considered wear items and are not covered by our lifetime warranty. To make your spouts last longer we recommend taking the bottle away from your child if they don’t appear to be actively drinking from it as this will prevent passive teething on the spout or straw.

To make a warranty claim please send an e-mail and include a description of the problem, how it occurred and images or video of the fault. If we cannot find your details in our system we may also require proof of purchase (such as an order confirmation email). We can then work with our supplier to provide a replacement.
